This is the sweater I had been dreaming of for the past five and a half years. As soon as I saw it in
Interweave Knits: Spring 2007, I was in awe. I don't know if it was because of the diamond cables, the armour-like cables buttressing the sides, the fact that it is knit as a single element (no seams), or its textured simplicity. I just knew I had to tackle it. I thought about it for 3 or 4 years, then I purchased the yarn, but
not in pastel blue -- sorry, not a pastelly kind of gal. Then I thought about it for another year or so and then, finally, I dove in. Confession: I stalled a few times; no, not exactly stalled -- more like produced a fair number of baby hats in between. Never in my life have I cabled this much in one project. But finally: ta da and hosanna! Our celestial knit goddess that art in yarn utopia, carpel tunnel be thy name. Praise Hallelujah. She be done.

BTW - it is knit in an olive green cotton, and no, I haven't yet tried it on... I just finished blocking it... Wouldn't it just
suck if its proportions weren't correct? Note to self: I will be happy regardless of fit. I will not sulk if it's not perfect... It took me months to create this magnum opus as a cable diva.
Incidentally: Son of Rebel Knitter can now explain to the masses the precious merits of
blocking... YES Woolly and Guerilla! I have succeeded in the brainwashing. He actually repeated after me
thrice "If your mother says block, you block!" Yay!
